Jesus Makes Us White As The First Winter Snow

New BeginningsMarci AnthonyComment

Come now, let us reason together, says the LORD. Though your sins are like scarlet, they shall be as white as snow; though they are red as crimson, they shall be like wool. Isaiah 1:18 NIV

How would you describe yourself? Are you a summer girl, winter girl, or somewhere in between? I am a summer girl through and through. I love sandals, summer dresses, sunglasses, hot weather, cool, icy beverages, and especially not having to wear a heavy, bulky coat. In fact I like summer so well if winter never came I would be thrilled. I just despise winter and everything with it and especially the snow.

Because of this fact, my friends will contact me when it snows and remark how beautiful the snow falls and tease me about my dislike of this cold, icy stuff. However, these comments began to make me think about my dislike of winter and I decided I would pray asking Jesus to show me the beauty of snow and winter.

Well, guess what? This winter after our first snow and ice I saw it sparkle and glisten and it was so clean, crisp, and white. Snow is beautiful!! My next thought was “Oh my, something is wrong with me. I thought snow was beautiful. ”

But in that very moment, Jesus placed this verse into my mind and I realized my life was the same. I disobey Jesus and His commands and do what I want to do. I rebel and I am sinful and my sins are like scarlet and red as crimson. However, Jesus is so loving and so full of grace that when I confess my sins, He is faithful and just to forgive my scarlet sins and cleanse me from all unrighteousness. (I John 1:9) He makes me clean and white just like snow, beautiful, lovely snow.
